Junior running back on the Jeannette High School football team, Maxwell Marion Marton shot one of his classmates in the face and took a snapchat selfie with the dead body before sending it to a friend. Snapchat automatically erases the picture, however his friend saved it to his phone and showed his mom and then they immediately contacted authorities.
When investigators searched the Pittsburgh residence of Marton they found a 9-mm handgun and bullet casing in the basement.
With this horrible tragedy, some may argue that we need stricter gun laws to help prevent an incident like this. Maybe it’s not our gun laws that need to be stricter, there is obviously an underlining problem that comes from all of these type of incidents.
Lets face it, if someone is going to go on a killing rampage and they took the time to plan out the whole scene having stricter gun laws will not change anything.
Luckily authorities got to Morton before he continue out his plan, disclosed in a tex to the boy who received the snapchat this was not going to be his last victim.
Mortan was charged as an adult with first-degree murder of Ryan Mangan.
What could have been so serious that Mortan needed to end Mangan’s life? As teenagers we are not thinking clearly with our rage of hormones. Could this have been something that could have been stopped?
